At the Aussie-run, grassroots-fuelled Ads-Up Refugee Network, we’re driven by the belief that everyone deserves the chance to build a life for themselves and their family.
Our mighty grassroots team of volunteers and donors have helped dozens of families and hundreds of refugees who have been sent by the Australian government to be resettled in the USA after years of trauma and unlawful detention on Manus and Nauru.
After just three months, refugees are too often left entirely on their own. Most arrive with barely anything more than the clothes on their backs, many have serious dental and medical issues which have been left untreated for years, and many struggle silently with trauma and PTSD.
With emergency financial relief, school supplies, rent payments, medical support and skills training, Ads-Up has been an invaluable part of so many refugee’s journey to independence and freedom – and we can’t stop now.

The NZ Deal
The Australian government has finally accepted the New Zealand offer to resettle up to 450 refugees – 150 a year – from Australia’s inhumane mandatory refugee detention process.
It has taken the Australian government an agonising nine years to accept this offer, and only now – in the lead up to a federal election and as part of a backroom Senate deal – has the Morrison Government agreed to this decision.
At Ads-Up USA, we’re thrilled for the opportunity this will give refugees to restart and rebuild their lives after such lengthy injustice, angered that the government still has not ended the unnecessary, ongoing injustice of mandatory detention, and ready to provide support and assistance to those who will be making New Zealand their new homes.
In the coming weeks and months, we will be working to build our network and partnerships in New Zealand as we work out how best we can mobilize our support. At the same time, we will continue to provide ongoing support to men, women and children who continue to be transferred to the USA under the US-Australia refugee deal.
Who are we? We’re a network of Aussies in the United States who have been working since May 2018 to support hundreds of refugees arriving from PNG and Nauru under the still ongoing Australian-US refugee deal.
